What does the uterus look like?

The wasp uterus is a sexually mature female whose main mission is to procreate, to continuously reproduce offspring. The queen does not function as a queen species of wasps. The hierarchical structure is characteristic of public, paper wasps - Vespins, leafy leaves and some other species. Sexually mature females of solitary wasps live separately, each of them is laying eggs.

What does the uterus look like?

The queen of wasps attracts special attention, since there are no one to compare prolific single females with - there are no working individuals. Body length from 10 to 40 mm, the color is not only striped with a bright black and yellow color. Among single, primitive representatives of the species, there are black, blue, red, green, violet colors.

The royal wasp of Vespin, polystyles differs from the working individuals in size. Almost 2/3 longer than their body. If the working individual grows up to 16 mm, the uterus - up to 25. There are no special differences in the structure, body structure. The powerful jaws that the insect uses for self-defense, hunting, and the extraction of building material stand out noticeably. Powerful stings easily gnaw through solid parts of victims if it is not possible to stick a sting.

There is a long mustache on the head, allowing you to pick up odors for several kilometers. The head is lowered to the bottom, complex facet eyes are clearly visible on the sides. At the same time, the wasp sees the picture in different directions, the generalized result is displayed in the form of a mosaic. This feature of vision helps to instantly capture moving objects, vibrations of light.

The chest and abdomen are connected by a thin membrane, giving the impression that the body is about to burst into 2 parts. Thanks to this structure, the insect easily inflicts bites at any angle, skillfully pulls the sting back. A photo of the uterus of the wasp is presented below, where it is possible to examine in detail the color, structure, evaluate the size in relation to the working individuals.

On a note!

The main weapon of the uterus is the sting - A modified ovipositor that connects with toxic glands. Insect squirts poison into the victim’s body, paralyzes in a few seconds. In humans, a toxic substance provokes an allergic reaction of different intensities.

Lifestyle, main functions

The behavior of the prolific female, the lifestyle of different species of the aspen family is different, but the main mission - the extension of the genus, is preserved.

Single uterus

They are active in early spring - the mating season begins. Eggs begin to lay in the summer. Before that they live for their pleasure - they collect plant nectar, drink fruit and berry juices. Layered nests do not form; dig holes in the ground for laying eggs.

The uterus prepares a nest in light, easy to dig soil. Depth reaches 5 cm, a single cell is placed at the bottom.

Interesting!

The female paralyzes the larvae of large beetles, spiders, various insects, drags into a hole, lays an egg on the body. After a few days, a larva appears, which within 14 days devours the victim.

In this way, the uterus provides the larva with separate housing, food. At the end of the cycle pupation occurs. In a pupal state, the larva hibernates; in spring, young females and males independently climb to the surface; the mating process begins.

Community Vespin

The queen of wasps is the founder of a large family, within which there is a clear hierarchy. Most of the society is made up of working individuals - immature females. They are engaged nest building, provide protection, seek food, feed larvae.

A young uterus lays the foundation of the nest in a favorable place. Initially forms a leg, then spreads the honeycomb. Lays an egg in each cell. After 3-4 days, inactive larvae appear, which need to be fed 2 weeks. The uterus preys on spiders, insects, because cubs need protein food. Chews, forms balls, gives larvae.

At the end of the cycle, the larva pupates, after 2-3 days a working individual appears, on which the uterus lays all the responsibilities for building a nest, finding food, caring for the larvae. Itself becomes the queen of the family, is engaged only in laying eggs.

In August, large honeycombs are adjusted to the nest, where special eggs are placed. From them a generation of young sexually mature females, males. They live in a nest for some time, get out in the fall, mating takes place. With the onset of cold weather, workers die, females seek refuge in the woods for wintering.

On a note!

According to some sources, the former queen dies in November; according to the second, she hides and hibernates. Forms a new family in the spring, has the ability to return to their former places. From here, the Queen's life expectancy is from 1 to 2 years.

Paper sheets

They occupy an intermediate place between primitive single wasps and public vespins. In one nest there can be several sexually mature queens, but only one plays the role of queen. The rest help her in increasing the number of populations. The number of hives reaches several hundred individuals. Otherwise, the functions of the uterus are identical to vespins.

Interesting!

In nature, there are many species, subspecies, genera of wasps. Among them there are uterine predators or parasites that make their way into someone else's nest, kill the true queen, take her place. The enslaved family cares for the larvae of the new queen, feeds herself. Over time, only her offspring remains in the hive.

The danger of uterine bites for humans

The Queen flies freely in the spring, when she is looking for a suitable place for the nest, in the fall, when he leaves. He spends most of his life in the nest; he does not get out. The meeting with the uterus occurs much less often than with working individuals.

The Queen behaves calmly, carefully, as she understands what an important mission is assigned to her. When meeting a person, he tries to hide quietly, rushes to attack only in case of a threat to his own life or her new nest.

The sting of the wasp uterus is a little thicker, so it’s bite somewhat more painful. Swelling, redness, swelling instantly appears. Further symptoms depend on the individual characteristics of the body. Symptoms disappear after wound disinfection within a week or special treatment with antihistamines, anti-allergic drugs is required.
