Why do spiders fly on the web?

Young spiders, after being born, drop a thin cobweb, hang in the air, waiting for a gust of wind. Air flows carry them in different directions, settling them in the neighborhood. Arachnids rise up to 1000 m, fly hundreds of kilometers safely. In tropical countries, mass flight inspires fear among locals and tourists. The sky seems to be overcast.
