Before you apply vinegar in your apartment, you need to know the nooks, where parasites can hide:

  • bed, mattress and all linen;
  • baseboards around the entire perimeter of the room and sockets;
  • lower part of carpets, floor under furniture;
  • inside the furniture on clothes;
  • in the cracks of the window frame and at the bottom of the windowsill;
  • on the walls behind paintings and at the joints of wallpapers.

Advantages and disadvantages of the method

An important advantage of using this tool is the absence of a toxic and chemical reaction. Vinegar against bedbugs in an apartment is best used in a situation where it is impossible to apply in a house strong chemicals for several reasons:

  • small children and pets live;
  • people with a strong allergy to chemical odors and substances;
  • there is no way to leave the apartment during the processing.

A significant advantage is the low price and availability of the food supplement: the ability to buy it in large quantities in the store, without causing much damage to the family budget.

Disadvantages of processing vinegar:

  • a strong smell that not everyone can easily tolerate;
  • weak and short-lived effect.

The effect of acid on bedbugs

To the question whether bedbugs are afraid of vinegar, one can answer this way: insects are afraid its smell, from which they try to escape away.

Acetic acid acts on insects with its specific aroma, which makes them crawl out of secluded places and look for another place to stay (to their neighbors). Therefore, the more funds to use, the stronger the smell and the more effective the reaction of parasites.

Important!

On the bedbug eggs vinegar treatment does not have a detrimental effect.

The disadvantage of this method is that getting rid of bloodsuckers is possible only for a certain time, while a pungent smell is maintained. Therefore, there is a high probability that the insects will return again after 10-14 days and will have to process the entire apartment again.

This method is often used for prophylaxis in a situation where it is known that neighbors will poison bugs: with it, you can protect your house from numerous pest invasions.

Recommendations for use

Before poisoning bugs, the room must be prepared:

  1. Clean the room, disassemble and inspect the beds.
  2. If possible, wash bedding and textile products at high temperature (or boil).
  3. Move the furniture away from the walls so that there is free access to the rear walls and baseboards around the perimeter.
  4. Remove pictures and photo frames from walls and inspect them for insects;
  5. Inspect all furniture and find parasite colonies.
  6. It is better to use acid at a 9% concentration (a weaker essence from bugs will not help), use a spray bottle for irrigation.
  7. Spray carefully all kinds of places where insects are likely to accumulate, you can even water them, coat the baseboards with a brush moistened with a solution.
  8. Although vinegar is non-toxic, wearing a gauze mask will help with a strong smell.

If the house has a bottle with undiluted acid (70%), then you need to know how to dilute vinegar in a concentration of 9%, which is safe for humans. To do this, a mixture is made in the ratio of 12 ml of acid and 88 ml of water, which ultimately gives 100 ml of a 9% concentration of acid.

Use with other agents

Vinegar for the destruction of bugs is best used in a private house or in the country, where the parasites will die with a high probability, running away from the walls of the housing. The removal of insects in this way in the apartment will be short-lived, because after some time they can return.

Reviews

The fight with these insects in our country happened: they poured boiling water, vinegar. The whole summer house, furniture was smelled, and we ourselves breathed in. Not very it turned out to be nice, and most importantly - the bugs first left, and returned after 10 days! So vinegar only works temporarily. Now we will look for other ways to get rid of bedbugs.

Elena, Moscow

I discovered these parasites in my bed completely unexpectedly. Re-read a lot folk ways to deal with bedbugs, I decided at first to try the cheapest - I poured everything in the apartment with vinegar. The stench was incredible, I had to run away to spend the night with a friend. When he returned, the smell decreased, the parasites ran away, and for two weeks did not appear. And then the invasion began again. I gave up and called the professionals, now everyone had a break - he himself collected and carried the bodies to the trash.

Vladimir, Kiev

Using vinegar from bed bugs is a very time-consuming undertaking and gives only temporary relief, because after a while the insects return to the apartment, again disturbing the peace and sleep of all residents.
