DIY mosquito repeller

You can make an ultrasonic mosquito repeller with your own hands, guided by the scheme. Minimum knowledge of physics, a little time and effort are needed.

Operating principle

Manufacturers ultrasonic repellers claim that devices act on insects, thanks to special sound frequencies. The human ear doesn’t pick them up, but mosquito sounds scare away.

A device for repelling mosquitoes produces sound waves, like fluctuations in the flight of a dragonfly, a bat, or repeats the sounds of a male mosquito. For humans, females are especially dangerous. They are feed on bloodto give life to new offspring. After fertilization, females try to avoid meeting with males, therefore squeak of a mosquito scares them off.

It is not easy to calculate which ultrasound an improvised device will produce, but, according to users, the ultrasonic mosquito repeller circuit is correct and effective.

To make an apparatus that produces sound of a certain frequency under the force of physicists. But using their drawings, it will be possible to make an effective apparatus within an hour.

The electronic circuits of the ultrasonic repeller show the chain along which the component devices should be connected.

On the chip, the notation means the following:

  • R1-R5 - DC resistors with a power of 0.25 W;
  • VD1 - diode to protect the device from short circuit, incorrect connection;
  • BQ1 - an emitter producing ultra-frequency sound;
  • VT1-VT2 - bipolar transistors;
  • R6 is a variable resistor;
  • C1-C2 - capacitors;
  • S1 - toggle switch for on, off.

All components of the drawing are located on a printed circuit board, you will need batteries or batteries to use for the street. Power supply with voltage up to 12 V.

You can adjust the sound frequency using the variable resistor R6. A homemade repeller is used indoors or outdoors.

You can use the K555LA3 chip with good frequency characteristics, low electrical energy consumption. There are only 4 parts in the circuit.

Designations are similar. Assembled on a breadboard. The signal is generated by the capacitor C1, if you need to change it, regulate using a variable resistor R6. An ultrasonic repeller is done in a few hours with minimal knowledge of physics.

On a note!

The disadvantage of home-made devices is the minimum range, a narrow range of frequencies produced.

If someone is interested in whether it works or not, you can spend several hours of your free time making an ultrasonic repeller. But, it is much easier to buy a ready-made device at an affordable price with a similar, or even better action.
