Do mice eat cats and cats

The cat became the first animal that humans tamed in primitive times. Her developed hunting instinct did not go unnoticed. She regularly caught rodents on the territory of the house and land holdings. The animal for man has become a friend, companion, family member, weapon against mice, rats. The question whether cats eat mice or just catch them is asked by many owners after unusual finds in the house. The huntress brings the caught prey to the owners, shows off a trophy, leaves in a conspicuous place.

Amusing process of catching rodents

A cute, fluffy, affectionate creature is a natural enemy field and house micerats. Pests do not even tolerate the smell of cats, they bypass their possession, they are afraid for their lives.

In the cat, the instinct of the hunter is laid genetically. Even when fed up, she will not miss the moment to chase the mouse that suddenly appeared. The process itself is a pleasure - to catch, not to miss. But, to kill, to eat or not, depends on other factors.

Interesting!

A study was conducted in the USA. Crossbred cats and domestic cats were crossed with one cat. Kittens after their birth were swapped. Pedigreed cats were raised by domestic cats. As a result, it turned out - hunting skills are developed for everyone. Moms brought kittens small rodents regularly. But further actions were different. The courtyard killed in cold blood, showing how the kittens should do this, gave them to eat. Purebred limited to the game. Followed the conclusion - that the kittens began to catch mice, eat them, we need an example. One instinct is not enough, skills are also required.

When asked why cats eat mice, the answer always arises - because of hunger. The situation when a skinny cat sees a dead rodent, is in no hurry to touch him, dispelled this myth. Then why does the cat eat a mouse?

The nature of the inextricable link between cats and rodents. There are many useful microelements in the mouse skin, especially sulfur. They are necessary for the full development of the cat's body, well-being. Sulfur is a component of cystine, mitionine. The components are responsible for health, beautiful coat, mood of the cat. Meat should be part of the daily diet. In his absence, pets begin to get their own food.

On a note!

Indoor cats will not chew on mice, since the supply of sulfur to them comes with vitamins, which are constantly supplied to them by the owner. There is no feeling of hunger and access to food is unlimited. Therefore, you can see how a cat eats a mouse on the street among the yard "residents".

Can a cat eat mice sounds strange. These are two components of the same chain. Cats should eat rodents in the wild, live in the house, but often go outside. In modern conditions, there are several risks from which pets should be protected.

  • Do not let cats eat mice if poisoning is likely. If neighbors use poison to fight rodents, the cat receives a dose poison for mice.
  • The huntress should regularly receive preparations against helminths, fleas, ticks. Rodents are the main distributors of parasites. The pet must be protected.
  • It is necessary to do all routine vaccinations. Mice spread many terrible diseases. Some of them are transmitted to humans through pets, after contact with the mouse.

The cat brings prey to the house for several reasons - to boast of an achievement in front of the owners, “feed” them, hide them from yard cats, eat later, in reserve for a rainy day.

Cats eat mice, but not all. This requires not only hunting instincts, but also certain living conditions. Yard kittens are able to conduct fierce hunting for rodents as early as 5 months of age.

Hi, I do not agree with the article, for the simple reason that I have a domestic cat, but there are mice, but not because he is hungry, he has the best food, the cat is not castrated, but very large and stocky, he chooses food, we feed excellently ... so the question is ripening in itself so why is the cat eating mice ?!
