Mandavosh - photos, symptoms and treatment

Pubic lice in humans - ectoparasites, which are the causative agents of phthiasis (pubic pediculosis). Insects live mainly on the pubis in the inguinal region, and can climb onto the hairline of the abdomen, as well as the armpit area. Sometimes parasites affect the hair of the face: eyelashes, eyebrows, mustache or beard (photo of pubic lice in men below). Parasites eat like others types of lice, exclusively with the blood of a person, which causes him great discomfort. Pubic lice are not adapted to another habitat.

Features of pubic lice

To make sure that parasites are present, you need to know how pubic lice or squint look. This name was given to the insect by the people because it is so stuck in the skin that it becomes almost invisible. From the side it can be perceived as a sticky speck.

The abscess is a small parasite whose body length is not more than 2 mm. It has a wide, roundish body of a pale gray color, which makes it inconspicuous among the hair. If we consider how lice look under a microscope, then in appearance they are very similar to crabs: on the trapezoidal trunk there is a large chest element, tapering to the back of the abdomen. Two pairs of hind limbs of the pubic louse are much thicker than the front ones, and the presence of a large hook on them gives a chance to firmly strengthen on the human hair. Photos of pubic lice can be seen below.

The process of breeding pubic lice

Pubic lice are quite calm - clinging to a hair at the very base, they can remain in the same place for a long time. However, this does not bother them at all. multiply - at one time, the female lays up to 3 eggs, for the entire period of life - up to 50 pieces, pubic louse lives a little less than a month. The female attaches the eggs to the hair with a special wax secreted by the glands.

Pubic lice nits are pear-shaped capsules. The valve cap located on top serves as an exit for the ripened larvae. It opens after the gases emitted by the larva accumulate inside the capsule. It takes about a week to develop the embryo (depending on temperature indicators). The most favorable for the development of embryos is an air temperature of 30 degrees. Pubic lice can not multiply, and nits develop if the temperature goes beyond 20-40 degrees.

The larva emerging from the egg is much smaller than the adult parasite, its body length is about 0.5 mm. She will become an adult in 17-20 days, undergoing 3 nymphal stages. In order to become sexually mature and mate with an individual of the opposite sex, the woman must be saturated with blood, which takes her several hours. Females are almost 2 times larger than males.

Infection methods

For a long time, phthiasis was considered a disease of people of low social level, living in unsanitary conditions. However, almost everyone can become infected with pubic lice.

Important!

Phytiasis (pubic lice) spreads both sexually and through household items.

The disease is transmitted:

  • during intimacy;
  • when using other people's hygiene items, underwear and bedding;
  • when in public places: swimming pools, saunas, baths, sports sections or city toilets;
  • with excessive crowding in hostels or barracks, where it is not always possible to maintain the necessary level of hygiene.

You can become infected with pubic lice even during pregnancy. The danger for a woman is that during this period, the majority of medications are prohibited. Still, pediculicides are toxic and can adversely affect the baby. A photo of pubic lice in women is presented below.

Symptoms of the disease

Food for pubic lice is human blood. An insect can attack its prey several times a day by drinking up to 0.5 mg of blood at a time. The pest is not able to remain without food for a long time: even 2 days of hunger strike is fatal for it.

Pubic louse begins to bite, piercing the skin with special outgrowths located in the mouth. Having thus reached the blood vessel, the louse expands the esophagus, preparing to pump blood. At the same time, an insect injects an enzyme that prevents blood coagulation from a special channel.

Pubic lice bites cause:

  • Severe itching, worse at night. In the early stages of infection with phthiasis, the sensation of itching can be subtle, over time it becomes unbearable and continuous due to the large number lice bites.
  • A characteristic rash in the form of bluish inclusions and vesicles, which can periodically appear and disappear. They occur during insect bite of small blood vessels (below in the photo you can see what the rash looks like).
  • Scratches, due to which the skin is very inflamed and flaky. This can lead to the penetration of microbes and the development of a secondary infection, as well as the occurrence of dermatitis or eczema.
  • Changes in the condition of the skin - it thickens, reddens, becomes rough and wrinkled.
  • The appearance of pubic lice on eyebrows and eyelashes may lead to the development of conjunctivitis or blepharitis.

Pubic lice can be detected on the hair with the naked eye. Saturated with human blood, they acquire a brown-red color, as a result of which they become more noticeable. The pubic nits attached to the hair look like microscopic nodules collected in clusters. Below you can see the satiated mandavosh in the photo.

The presence of dark spots on underwear is another sign indicating the magnitude of infection with pubic lice. So on the fabric there are prints of the waste products of the parasites.

These manifestations are nothing more than symptoms of pubic lice, which is evidence of phthyriasis. If they occur, you must urgently visit a doctor who not only makes the correct diagnosis, but also recommends further pediculosis treatment.

How to deal with pubic lice

If lice are found on the pubic part, treatment should be started immediately.

Mechanical impact

One of the most effective and simple methods of destroying pubic lice is shaving hair. To do this, use a razor, shaving foam, and lotion. Such a process does not take much time, but guarantees the achievement of maximum effect. The hair is shaved with a machine, after applying a foamy composition to the surface infected with lice. Then carefully treated with alcohol lotion. Such a solution has not only a disinfecting effect, but also reduces the irritation of the skin, and also destroys the surviving parasites.

Do not use for this anti-pedicular combwhich gives a good effect in the fight against head lice. Do not achieve a full result when removing insects with your hands.

Chemical exposure

Pubic lice can also be treated using anti-pediculosis drugs. They are based on insecticides that affect the nervous system of bloodsuckers. The consequence of this is paralysis, and then the death of insects.

Quite often, for these purposes, the same drugs are used as for the treatment of head lice. However, do not forget that most of them affect only adults. But they do not act on the strong protective shell of nits. Therefore, there is a need for re-processing, which should be carried out no earlier than a week. Pediculicidal drugs are in the form of shampoos, sprays or ointments.
The following drugs are recognized as the most effective:

Folk ways

You can treat lice and folk wayswhich are more accessible:

  • Kerosene - a means to destroy lice, which people have used since ancient times. To prevent burns, it must be mixed with vegetable oil in a 1: 1 ratio. The resulting mixture is applied to the infected area, washed off after 6-8 hours. After 10 days, the treatment is repeated.
  • Vinegar - to treat the hair, it must be diluted with water (up to 3%). After an hour, take a shower. To achieve maximum effect, the treatment is carried out daily for three days.
  • Garlic and sorrel - a mixture of these ingredients is detrimental to ploschits. Garlic should be chopped and combined with sorrel juice in a ratio of 1: 3. The resulting mass is applied to the area affected by lice for 10 days.

Important!

Using these products to combat pubic lice can cause side effects such as burns or irritation. This is especially true for the use of kerosene, Dichlorvos, hydrogen peroxide, hellebore water. The safest folk remedy is tar soap for lice.
